Cuttlefish, octopus rise again
According to the Association of Seafood Export and Vietnam (VASEP), statistics from Vietnam Customs show that in January, exports of octopus worth 38.45 million, up 9, 8% compared to the same period of 2015. this is also the step marked the growth of this sector in the last months of last year when exports constantly going down.
Ink is still a large proportion of commodities, accounting for nearly 52%, reaching nearly 20 million US dollars worth. Octopus also currently 48%, exports totaled US $ 18.45 million in January.
Korea is the leading import market octopus Vietnam, accounting for nearly 40% of the proportion. In January, this product to Korea worth 15.31 million, up 3.6% from the same period in 2015.
As the import market accounting for 14%, Asean has the highest growth rate in the three major markets for exports reached 5.42 million, up nearly 21%.
As for the US market, although the share of exports to just 1.3%, but the growth rate is quite impressive. In January, the US imported octopus from Vietnam worth $ 503,000, an increase of 167.3% over the same period in 2015.
